iFalconr's Smart Bargain Finder

Welcome to iFalconr's Smart Bargain Finder, my project to share places where anyone can snag a great deal on products they are already planning to buy. Sources range from discount wholesalers (who buy in bulk and pass on savings to consumers) to the actual manufacturers (who obviously have the lowest bottom line). I also will post occasional freebies that I encounter. I hope to eventually build this humble blog into an extensive network of bargain sources. Enjoy!

Free Optical Mouse from DMExpress

Take a minute and look at your right hand (or your left if you're weird). The item you are holding is refered to as a "mouse" (no relation to the rodent) and it's humble past certainly belies its true significance. If not for the humble mouse, your would not be able to visit such wonderful sites such as mine. :) Anyways, enough with the history. The title basically explains this freebie. Others have received this in the past, so this should be quite reliable. Visit DMExpress to claim your free optical mouse.

Our first non-Freebie item - Dell DJ Ditty 512 MB mp3 player

Although this item is not entirely a freebie, it certainly can be considered a just as good deal (especially if you are in the market for an mp3 player) since it has been marked down from its retail price of $70 to a much lower $39. This $40 discount is applied instantly, so there is no need to fuss about coupon codes or mail in rebates. The Dell DJ Ditty only weighs 1.29 ounces, and is claimed to play about 220 songs (512MB) for up to 14 hours (Lithium Polymer battery). There also is an integrated FM tuner! You should check the site for all the details. Funny jab at Apple's iPod shuffle too..the bottom of the "Why Buy Ditty" column says that "Life isn't always random." Enjoy!

Here's the Dell Ditty link!

Another Interesting Freebie Site

Here's a website created by Andrew Cantino that certainly has found its niche in the freebie market. Rather than relying on a community forum to post freebies or other direct sources, Andrew has made a "free stuff aggregator" that finds deals from other top freebie sites. Enjoy!

Get you fiber from Fibersure!

Did you know that adult women are supposed to eat 25 grams of fiber a day (make that 38 grams for men)?! Although that goal is certainly reachable through natural means, it sometimes helps to have a supplement to give that extra boost to meet that goal. Whatever your reason, here's a freebie that should interest quite a few of you. Fibersure (from the makers of Metamucil) is offering free samples online, as well as a "free gift" which evidently is a mystery until the package arrives. In the past, people have reported receiving a measuring scoop, spatula, etc... Hope this helps some of you out there.

Free Personalized Item at Customized Engraving online

Customize Engraving is offering a free personalized item to "qualified customers". By this, they ask that you link to them from "your blog, personal web site, or from another site (e.g., FatWallet, MySpace, Xanga, TypePad). " Pretty smart way to get reciprocal linking if you ask me... There are relatively few guidelines, and they can all be viewed at the link below. Enjoy your free item (that is if you "qualify").

You would think...

You would think that bargain sites would be common knowledge. After all, any site offering true bargains should be able to gain business through word of mouth advertising and many satisfied customers. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case. I used Google to look for such sites with keywords such as bargain sites, wholesale companies, discount sites, etc..., but found little besides those tacky placeholder sites with flashing banners and affiliate programs that charge a fee for exclusive wholesale directories. Although it is a lofty ambition, I hope that someday, web users will be able to google such terms and find an authentic site (whether mine or otherwise) where a list of bargain companies can be easily accessed and searched through. Okay...I'll stop my rant now. Good night, and good luck!

Welcome Continued

As I mentioned in my first post, one of my current interests (bordering on a passion) is finding bargains. To be honest, I've found that it becomes more of a lifestyle than a simple interest. Although it would be impossible to instruct everyone on how to live the "frugal" life, there are certainly several areas where I can help. A major area I hope to tackle is buying products at retail locations. Although there are some things that lend themselves to the retail arena (online grocers never exactly took off...) nearly everything else can be found online at a much lower price. Despite fears of online transactions, there are countless online companies that rival the safety and security offered by your friendly local big box retailer. Some of these companies even rival the size of popular retailers, but choose to maintain only a web presence in order to cut down on overhead fees (including property costs, electricity, staffing, etc...). In turn, these savings are passed onto the consumer.

I have decided to use Google Base to categorize all of the bargain sites I plan to share. The majority of them have a web presence, but there are a few that continue business in a more traditional way (read: catalog, phone, mail). I will post all pertinent information for all the companies, which is relatively simple thanks to Google's system of attributes and keywords. I hope to eventually have every site I find useful categorized, but that is a lofty goal which will not be reached anytime soon.

In the mean time, I am open to any suggestions or questions that anyone might have. Share any companies you know of that offer a discounted price to the general public. In order to jumpstart the process, please feel free to share any impending purchases you plan to make. I'll do my best to find a company that offers what you're looking at a cheaper price, and also add it to the database. Two birds with one stone!

I hope that I have made my intentions and ambitions clear. I trust that there are like-minded somewhere out there, and I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, or criticisms that anyone might have. Good night...and good luck!

First...A word from our sponsors

I would like to take this time to explain the origins of my username. As it turns out, I came about it rather backwards. After hearing about such cool domain hacks as del.icio.us, blo.gs, and many others, I decided that I would try to find my own unique domain hack. Although I do own several domain names for other interests of mine, I decided that I would just be frugal this time and find a free alternative. Freedomain.co.nr enters the picture. After being introduced to this by a friend, I went about trying to figure out how to incorporation the subdomain given by their company (co.nr) into a memorable name. After many fruitless online dictionary searches, I finally found one word that contained those four letters...falconry. However, I could not get that "y" at the end, which turned out to be fine as "falconr" is a cooler (albeit not quite correct) name. Now (as if I'm not cheap enough), I realized that Co.nr names had to be longer than three letters, so "fal" (to make the domain hack fal.co.nr) would not be free. Instead of paying, I compromised on the equally cool domain iFal.co.nr. If anyone else is interested in this service, you may click on the button contained in the post (which is the one thing that I have to do in order to benefit from this service).

Welcome

Welcome to iFalconr's Blog. In this inaugural post, I will give a brief summary of my intentions and expectations in creating this blog. First of all, I'll make it clear that my main motivation is making money. As ignoble as it sounds, I don't want to skirt the truth. Since I heard from a friend of the "wonders of Adsense", I decided that I too would try it out. I had to first decide how to attract people to the site. As it turns out, I found that I had a passion that might prove to be a perfect fit for this project of mine. Namely...finding bargains.

Tune in next time for the continuation of my "brief" story!
